The Bermuda Triangle Mystery Solved

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Investigation carried out as part of a new program of BBC News, gave a purely practical answer to the mystery of the disappearance of two passenger aircrafts that were on flights in the late 1940’s and disappeared in the Bermuda triangle. On January 30, 1948 plane BSAA of mark “Avro Tudor IV”, under the name “Star Tiger”, which flew with 25 passengers and 6 crew members, disappeared in the Bermuda. Neither bodies of people, nor the wreckage could be found. The official investigation found no trace, or causes of the crash, and decided that “the fate of the” Star Tiger “will remain an unsolved mystery”.

However, some points in the record indicate a technical problem that could lead to disaster. First, the heating system of the aircraft was extremely unreliable, and secondly, it is known that one of the onboard compasses was malfunctioning. In addition, on approach to Bermuda the “Star Tiger” deviated from the course and was behind schedule for an hour. Headwind, which had to face the aircraft, proved stronger than the settlement and that could lead to increased fuel consumption. The researchers concluded that the aircraft, probably, just ran out of fuel, but because the machine was at a low altitude, the pilots were killed not having time to radio about the crash.

Second incident in a “mysterious” triangle also happened with the airplane “Avro Tudor IV”, owned by BSAA airlines. On January 17, 1949 aircraft with the name “Star Ariel”, launched from Bermuda to have disappeared at a time when it was allegedly at a height of about 6 – 6,5 kilometers. Fuel from the aircraft could not come to an end, elevation was sufficient, but the airplane had disappeared without a trace.

One of the former pilots of BSAA, Don McIntosh, who flew on the planes of this model, believes that the cause of the accident lies in the extremely unfortunate technical design of “Tudors”. Pairs of hydraulic fluid could get on a hot heating element of the heating system and cause an explosion. As the rescuers because of the failure in the communication system could go in search of the aircraft just after seven hours, they were unable to detect on the surface of the ocean no people and wreckage.
