When thinking about one of the best places to visit in April the first place that comes to mind is Madagascar. Why is it so? Simply because travelling to Madagascar, is available for everyone- for those who are planning to discover new corners of the world, who want to go somewhere where there is no beaten track, who are looking for exotic and pleasant warm beaches with clean white sand.
Every single traveler who gets on the island of Madagascar, of course, is being shocked at first. Large reserves in different parts of Madagascar, its forests and volcanoes, coral areas and rivers – all unique and unrepeatable.
Nature
“This island, you know, is the most famous and largest in the world” – would say Marco Polo – and would get it wrong.
According to the accurate scientific data Madagascar is only the fourth largest island in the world – right after the islands of Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo. But the natives consider Madagascar to be not the largest island on Earth, but the smallest continent on the planet.
This is quiet an interesting approach while we can say that you’ll never find such a second island in the world with such a huge mixture of the landscapes.
Madagascar rightfully earned the reputation of the island-reserve. Madagascar puts a spell on every single researcher and sometimes even keeps them for a long-time stay, while for the visitors it gives a memorable collision with the real wealth of wildlife.
The island is there to surprise you with a variety of scenery: from the dense forests of succinic Mountains in the north to the dry forests in the West, dominated by Tamarind trees, and its set of baobabs, the thorny chascham in the South.
Crossing the country, you can witness the lunar landscape and canyons in Isale, visit Ankaran – mountain range, where the famous scurvy, rocky faces are destroyed by the intersections of wind and time.
In addition to this, both parks and nature reservations, whose architecture is similar to the surrounding landscape, are also equipped with the camp for camping, which makes the possibility of an open air stay quite reasonable. Feels like you don’t need to worry about where to stay in while your vacation, isn’t it?
Fauna
Madagascar has a rich and diverse nature, which can be found in its parks and reserves. In Madagascar, it is possible to see the unique animals, fantastic plants and flowers – 80% of which can meet only in Madagascar. Fauna of Madagascar is extremely rich. This includes mammals, and amphibians, and a great variety of colorful birds. From the unique animals lemurs live here – the smallest monkeys in the world, including the rare representatives of the family of lemurs – Indra.
Some believe that this unique animal is the main attraction of the island due to the fact that they have quiet interesting behavior and it’s a great chance to observe it.
As for the rest of the animals you might better get an experienced guide and hit the road of new discoveries. The “jungle” trip will be especially great for the lovers of adventurous trips and of course the kids who enjoy finding out something new.
Antananarivo
City of Thousand and One Nights “! According to the local legend those who would get a chance to find the fountain filled with the magic potion of Manangareza, you’ll always get another chance to return to this awesome land. This pure water is called to be the offer of the spirits of the island which makes your return to the island safe and protects you from any kind of harm while being on the island itself.
Antananarivo – the economic center of the country. Its population is approximately 2 300 000 people. Huh, got kind of disappointed. Regardless the fact that the island has a wild nature, the capital of the country is not differing from the ones typical for the industrialized countries.
While at the same time the attractions of the city are more of an African style. This includes a long list of various open air activity and gathering places.
One of such places is Market Zuma – one of the world’s largest open air markets. Zuma word means “Friday”. Exotic fruits and vegetables, meat, flowers, computers, electronics, toys, furniture, handicrafts, pottery, carved stone products, clothing – items placed in the central area and many adjoining streets. The equipment is protected from the sun with huge white umbrellas. People here sale and bargaining lively, but still everything is being conducted in a dignified manner, without shouting and noise. This is the best place to get the souvenirs to take home to remind you of this huge paradise island.
The capital of this country – the city Antanarivo, which has a distinctive charm. Here you can admire the beauty of the central areas of medieval buildings, built on hilly terrain and have an amazing architecture. Immediately adjacent to the city there is a large rice fields, which create magnificent landscapes.
State Forest Tsimbazaza – botanical and zoological garden with a variety of instances of very peculiar Malagasy flora and fauna: lemurs, extraordinary chameleons and insects, birds. There is a skeleton of a gigantic ancient bird, aepiornis, growth of which is about ten feet high; the actual growth is defined by the huge bird egg (ostrich egg measures a quart and a half).
One of the best resort places of the island- Antsirabe is a charming town of Hot Springs. The best thing about this place is that it’s only about 180km south of Antananarivo. Here you’ll find the most popular lake on the island. The legendary lake is a volcano consequence- the thing is that the lake is situated on the extinct crater of Tritriva volcano nearby. The lake is now turned into a total amusement place; on Andraikiba lake you can always swim or have either your own tour or a one accompanied with professionals.
The last thing left to say is that the weather forecast is expecting to have a lot of warm and sunny days on this quite awesome island, so hurry to get a ticket!
